Recently there was an issue where one user could see the quote related list and new quote button, but another user couldn’t. This was especially confusing because everything was the same. Profile, Role, Permission Sets, Record Type, Page Layout, even the manager was the same! But for some reason, one user couldn’t access the quotes, and the other could. Unfortunately, there were not any good answers to be found online. Short version: it was the personal preferences option. But, there are a few things you can check if you’re just getting started.

Page Layout

I know, but yes, seriously. Check your page layouts and ensure the Quote related list is added.

Permissions

Next, check your profile permissions and make sure that read / create is enabled for your quote object. Keep in mind that if you have CPQ there are two quote objects – standard and CPQ.

Personal Preferences

If those do not work, edit the users personal preferences page.

  1. Click the User Icon
  2. Settings
  3. Display & Layout
  4. Customize My Pages
  5. Select the object
  6. Customize My Pages
  7. Add the related list
  8. Save

Side note: in order to overwrite users personal preferences globally, you’ll need to add a related list to the page layout in use. You can remove it after save though.
